The workers committee claims management said that 10 branches will be closed and hundreds fired.

Israel's Mega supermarket chain, owned by Blue Square Israel (NYSE: BSI; TASE: BSI), has confirmed that it is consolidating operations. Mega said, "The chain recently informed the workers committee of plans to close down five branches and lay off a total of 65 workers and not hundreds as has been published."

Previously the Mega workers committee had said that management had told it that 10 branches would be closed and hundreds of employees might be fired.
