The Finance Ministry will transfer another NIS 300 million after paying NIS 300 million before the Gaza operation began.

The Ministry of Finance will transfer a further NIS 300 million to the Ministry of Defense after it was revealed last week that I had already paid NIS 300 million before Operation Protective Edge began. The special budget is to pay for mobilizing reservists and the high costs of the military operation, which is estimated at NIS 10 billion.

Last week the Ministry of Finance held a special press briefing in which officials and particularly Minister of Finance Yair Lapid spoke about its budgetary conduct during the military operation. Head of the Budgetary Division Amir Levy took part in the meeting and spoke about cooperation between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Defense.

Levy revealed that the Ministry of Finance had already transferred NIS 300 million to finance Operation Protective Edge and would be paying another NIS 300 million soon. He said, "We are doing everything so that the budgetary issue will not be an impediment for delaying the operation. The State Budget enjoys reserves that are designed precisely for events like these."

The Ministry of Defense was demanding a NIS 6 billion budgetary supplement in the 2015 defense budget even before Operation Protective Edge began a month ago.
