Walmart has been marketing its costumes heavily ahead of Halloween, but one ensemble raised the ire of the US retailer's customer base - an Israeli soldier costume for kids.
On its site, Walmart offers the costume for a "reduced price" of $27. Though the accompanying picture shows a child in the costume holding a toy Uzi submachine replica, the product description notes the costume comes only with "shirt, pants, belt, and hat."
Walmart entreats its customers to purchase the IDF-inspired uniform: "When Halloween time rolls around, make this item part of your child's complete ensemble."
The US giant's consumers, on the other hand, were less thrilled with the idea. One post, titled "Costume of the Chosen Apartieid Army", says, "Your little one can now go to his friend's house, and take over their bedroom, and all of their toys and claim that God has given him/her the right to take it."
Another based Walmart for the "immoral" product, writing: "Might as well sell a Hitler outfit for children as well! Pitiful!"
