Yesterday, three and a half weeks before the Super Bowl, the most widely viewed television event in the US, DIY website company Wix.com Ltd. (Nasdaq: WIX) revealed initial details about the advertising clip it will screen during the broadcast.
Wix has developed a platform, aimed at small businesses, that enables the user to set up a website easily. Wix's "It's that easy" campaign features five US National Football League (NFL) legends - Brett Favre, Terrell Owens, Emmitt Smith, Larry Allen and Franco Harris - dealing with the challenge of becoming small business owners after hanging up their playing shoes.
In the course of their career switch, the former players discover that setting up a website through Wix makes launching and managing their businesses much easier. Wix is launching its campaign with a clip featuring Terrell Owens giving viewers a look at his "uncharacteristic" new business on his website. The campaign gives each of the legends "humorous ventures corresponding to his personality and accomplishments."
A special website is scheduled to go online in the coming days for gradual distribution of all the campaign materials. "Running a small business is no easy feat but it's also incredibly rewarding. In our campaign, we chose to demonstrate how Wix helps simplify one of the most complicated aspects of small business management - developing a professional and dynamic presence on the web," says Wix CMO Omer Shai.
Wix has 58 million customers, of whom 1.1 million are paying customers. A large proportion of the company's content services are provided free of charge; customers are charged for premium services. Founded by CEO Avishai Abrahami, Wix is traded at a $810 million market cap.
