Toyota recall reaches Israel
Toyota Motors Israel general manager: We'll soon receive chassis numbers affected, and notify drivers, but it will take time.
The Toyota models that will be checked in Israel are the Yaris, Auris, Rav 4, Avensis, and Verso. Toyota Motors Israel general manager Micha Carmon told “IDF Radio" (Galei Zahal) this morning that 4,000-6,000 cars will be tested in Israel.
In the past two months, Toyota has recalled 6.5 million cars in the US, due to problems with the pedal, following complaints of sudden acceleration. Toyota shut down entire production lines as a result. This is the company's largest-ever recall.
Carmon said, "We will call drivers to come for tests due to the problem of the sticky pedal. We'll issue guidelines today to all the agencies, and explain how they'll work with the drivers who have a sticky pedal problem. I want to stress that all the notices we've received from Toyota mention that this is a very rare problem.
"In the next few days, we'll receive chassis numbers of the cars in which these systems were installed, and drivers in Israel will be notified to come have the parts replaced. This isn't a matter of a day or two; it will take time."
