Given Imaging launches PillCam Express

The device is a disposable capsule delivery device designed for PillCam patients who are unable to ingest a capsule.

Given Imaging Ltd. (Nasdaq: GIVN; TASE: GIVN) today announced the launch of two new products: the PillCam Express capsule placement device for the PillCam SB (small bowel) endoscopic camera; and the RAPID pH software to support the Bravo pH monitoring system. The company added that is has redesigned the PillCam capsule packaging to be more compact and environmentally friendly.

The PillCam Express is a disposable capsule delivery device designed for the 3-5% of PillCam patients who are unable to ingest a capsule or who have slow gastric emptying times. The device secures the capsule to the end of an endoscope, enabling the capsule to be placed in the stomach or the small intestine using a proprietary balloon deployment mechanism.

The RAPID pH will streamline and simplify workflow for the Bravo pH monitoring system. It includes proprietary review and analysis software and offers easy-to-use screen layouts and intuitive system navigation.

The new PillCam packaging reduces storage requirements by two-thirds and uses a third less plastic for the five-pack and almost a fifth less plastic for the ten-pack. The new security tab prevents tampering and enables simplified tracking with an easy peel-off label that can be placed on the patient's chart.

Given Imaging's share closed at $21.93 on Nasdaq yesterday, giving a market cap of $644 million. The share price rose 1.8% by early afternoon on the TASE today to NIS 80.37.
