2,000 homes in Rosh Ha'Ayin clear gov't hurdle

Housing Minister Ariel Atias yesterday took practical action to release land as part of his effort to lower home prices.

Minister of Housing and Construction Ariel Atias yesterday took practical action to release land as part of his effort to lower home prices. The Ministry of Housing published tenders for land zoned for 2,000 apartments on the eastern hills of Rosh Ha'Ayin, out of a 14,000 units planned for the project. The marketing of the land had been blocked, until a committee of ministries' director generals removed the obstacles four months ago.

The land is now being marketed after the Ministry of Housing and Rosh Ha'Ayin Municipality reached a deal to market land for 8,600 apartments of the 14,000 units. 700 of the 2,000 apartments will be auctioned based on price to resident, in which the winner is the bidder offering the lowest price to homebuyers.

The Ministry of Housing will market land for 6,600 additional apartments in the project during 2011.
