Life Technologies completes Kiryat Shmona plant

The biotechnology company's plant includes research and production laboratories for the development of DNA test kits.

Life Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: LIFE) has completed construction of its plant in Kiryat Shmona, at an investment of $6 million. The biotechnology company's plant includes research and production laboratories for the development of DNA test kits.

Uri Dori Engineering Works Corp. (TASE: DORI) subsidiary U. Dori Clean Rooms Engineering Ltd. designed and built the 2,500-square meter plant on a five-dunam (1.25-acre) lot in the Kiryat Shmona north industrial zone.

U. Dori Clean Rooms Engineering, based in the Matam high-tech park in Haifa, designs and builds plants for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies. CEO Gil Shapiro said that Life Technologies decided to set up shop in Kiryat Shmona because its Israeli subsidiary, Etrog, was founded as a technologies incubator in the northern Galilee town. "The plant will employ 54 persons. It is close to the Tel Hai Academic College, which is growing next-generation biotechnology," he said.
