Samsung, VTech use DSPG chipsets in new cordless phones

The handsets are the world's first CAT-iq 2-certified products.

DSP Group Inc. (Nasdaq: DSPG) has announced that CAT-iq 2.0 handsets developed by Samsung and VTech are using its chipset solutions. The handsets are the world's first CAT-iq 2.0 (Cordless Advanced Technology - Internet and quality)-certified products, delivering "true-to-life" sound to cordless phones.

DSP Group has been deeply involved in all stages of defining the next-generation cordless technology through its affiliation with the DECT Forum and Home Gateway Inititative, as well as its contribution to the creation of corresponding ETSI specifications and support of CableLabs' specification activities.

"The presence of our chipset solutions in the world's first CAT-iq 2.0-certified handsets highlights the pivotal role DSP Group continues to play in cordless technology," said Oz Zimerman, Corporate VP of Marketing and Business Development at DSP Group. "As more CE manufacturers recognize the advantages offered by CAT-iq 2.0 and adopt the standard, we expect to further strengthen our foothold in this fast-evolving area."

DSPG has a market cap of $183 million.
