The Tel Aviv District Labor Court today rejected a petition by the state to issue an injunction banning labor sanctions by doctors. The court accepted a compromise proposed by the Israel Medical Association, under which the doctors will limit their labor sanctions. The court also ordered the parties to conduct intensive negotiations for two weeks, after which they will notify the court of the progress in the talks.
Both the government and the Israel Medical Association expressed satisfaction with the ruling.
Earlier Tel Aviv District Labor Court Judge Michael Spitzer told the Ministry of Finance, "You have no case" for an injunction because the doctors had not completely shut down the health system, but were only taking what they call "measured" steps.
