Sources inform ''Globes'' that US companies are planning to bid in an IDF tender for a field hospital. The IDF plans to purchase a field hospital for use in war, natural disasters, or other mass-casualty events, and intends to publish an international request for proposals (RFP) within weeks.
Elul Tamarynd Ltd. (TASE: ELUL) may represent HDT Global Inc. Mobile Medical International Corporation and Alaska Structures Inc. may also bid.
The field hospital will be deployable quickly and be able to receive, classify, and provide initial treatment and emergency surgery. The sources said that the decision to initiate the process for procuring the field hospital was taken after studying the lessons from recent disasters around the world, including the Izmit earthquake in Turkey in 1999, and the 2004 Indian Ocean and 2011 Japanese tsunamis.
