LTE co Traffix Systems signs $5m US contract

A North American tier-one teleco has ordered the company's signaling delivery controller router solution for LTE networks.

Traffix Systems Ltd. has won a $5 million contract from a North American tier-one telecommunications carrier for the company's signaling delivery controller (SDC) router solution for LTE networks.

Traffix CEO Ben Volkow founded the company in 2005. The company develops software solutions for improving traffic on 4G LTE mobile networks. The company has raised $5 million to date from serial entrepreneur Benny Schnaider, who serves as chairman.

Traffix already has had several million dollars revenue. Its customers include Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ), Vodafone plc (NYSE; LSE: VOD), France Telecom SA (Euronext; NYSE: FTE) brand Orange, and Qwest Inc. (NYSE: Q)

Volkow told "Globes" that the company's products were installed in the cores of tier one carriers' networks. "Although the deals were made through partners who are major equipment vendors, such as Alcatel Lucent, IBM, Oracle, and Redhat, and take time, but after they happen they are on a large scale. We are then in the network cores and it's very hard to get us out."

Volkow added that the company's revenue was growing. "Half the amount we raised is still in the bank, and we're increasing our revenue. The company has 50 employees."

4G networks are the next big thing as mobile carries upgrade from 3G. Volkow said, "Only 1% of LTE networks are installed worldwide, and they already bring us substantial revenue. It can only go up. LTE networks will soon be installed everywhere, there's no question about it."
