Medical residents sign mass resignations

Senior doctors from the Israel Medical Association are marching to Jerusalem.

Hundreds of residents at Sheba Medical Center Tel Hashomer, Rabin Medical Center (Beilinson Hospital) in Petah Tikva, and Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba today signed letters of resignation en masse, which they say they will submit unless their minimum demands are met. These include not requiring specialists to carry out shifts, a 50% in residents' hourly pay rate, limiting shifts to six per month, adding 1,000 specialists' positions, and a four-year labor contract instead of the 8-10 year contract previously agreed with the Ministry of Finance.

Meanwhile, senior doctors from the Israel Medical Association are marching to Jerusalem. This morning, they passed the Assaf Harofeh Hospital between Rishon LeZion and Ramle, and are due to reach Latrun this evening and Jerusalem tomorrow. Protest marches have also departed from other hospitals, including Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon and Kaplan Hospital outside Rehovot.
