Lawsuit alleges Tnuva marketing Turkish eggs as Israeli

A NIS 334 million lawsuit has been filed against the company with a requested that it be recognized as a class-action suit.

Tnuva Food Industries Ltd. is importing eggs from Turkey and other countries, and marketing them as Israeli eggs, misleading consumers, according to a NIS 334 million lawsuit filed against the company with the Central District Court in Petah Tikva. The petitioners have requested that the suit be recognized as a class-action suit.

Similar lawsuits have been filed against other egg marketers, including M. Lesser, Glicksman, and Farm Eggs Ltd.

The petitioner says that the conduct of the egg marketing companies, including Tnuva, is even more serious since most of the imported eggs are from Turkey, which "is a country that has turned into a hostile country to Israel in recent years and where the level of veterinary inspection is lower than the level prevailing in Israel."
