Class action over fruit level in Strauss, Tnuva fruit yogurts

The petitioners allege that Tnuva's "Yogurt with granola fruit" and Strauss's "Yogurt with granola nuts" mislead consumers.

Two lawsuits have been filed with the Central District Court, with requests to be recognized as class-action suits, against Strauss Group Ltd. (TASE:STRS) and Tnuva Food Industries Ltd., for allegedly including almost no fruits and nuts in their yogurt marketed as containing them. The lawsuit against Strauss is for NIS 72 million, and the lawsuit against Tnuva is for NIS 142.5 million.

The petitioners allege that Tnuva's "Yogurt with granola fruit" and Strauss's "Yogurt with granola nuts" mislead consumers, because the products contain less than 6% fruit. By law, with this proportion, the products should be labeled as "fruit flavored".

Strauss has a 42% share of the yogurt market, with NIS 126 million in sales. The company's "Yogurt with granola nuts" reportedly has NIS 6.3 million in sales a year.
