MKs gross monthly salary will fall from NIS 34,842 to NIS 31,358, saving NIS 5 million a year.
MKs have agreed to a 10% pay cut as part of the 2013-14 budget, five months after receiving a 3% pay hike. Their gross monthly salary will fall from NIS 34,842 to NIS 31,358. The reduction of NIS 3,484 per month per MK will save NIS 5 million a year.
Yisrael Beitenu chairman MK Avigdor Liberman is behind the pay cut. He welcomed the Ministry of Finance's agreeing to his proposal, saying, "This is an important symbolic step at a time when every person in the country feels the burden of the serious economic situation."
