Ben Gurion Airport passenger traffic up 8%

Ben Gurion Airport handled 1.19 million passengers in June 2013.

Ben Gurion Airport handled 1.19 million passengers in June 2013, 8% more than in June 2012, the Israel Airports Authority reports. The number of flights rose by 10% over the corresponding month to 8,600 in June.

The Airports Authority predicts that Ben Gurion Airport will handle 1.5 million passengers in July and 1.6 million in August, on 19,000 flights during the two months. Passenger traffic in the first half of 2013 totaled 5.46 million, 5.4% more than in the first half of last year, and the number of international flights increased by 6.4% to 43,000.

The Airports Authority says that passengers' most popular destinations this summer are the US, Greece, Turkey, France, and Italy.
