El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. (TASE: ELAL) and GetTaxi have signed a cooperation agreement, under which El Al will offer passengers discounts for the use of GetTaxi's cab hailing service in Tel Aviv and other cities where it operates. An El Al passenger to New York can get a $25 discount on the usual $60-85 fare from JFK to a Manhattan hotel.
GetTaxi launched its New York service in early August, but with limousines, rather than the city's Yellow Cabs.
In London, El Al passengers can get a £10 discount from Heathrow, and in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, they can get a 300 Ruble discount.
In Israel, the GetTaxi service will operate in the opposite direction to the airport, offering a NIS 20 discount to El Al passengers. This is because Hadar Cab Station is the exclusive taxi operator for incoming passengers at Ben Gurion Airport, and GetTaxi cannot offer its service at the airport to El Al passengers.
In addition to the cooperation with GetTaxi, which also offers services for business customers, El Al will continue to use Castel Cab Station to provide transportation for its pilots and flight attendants to Ben Gurion Airport.
The collaboration launched today is for three months, and the discount will only be offered for the first trip hailed via the GetTaxi app.
