Israeli hotels world's seventh most expensive

The hotel reservations site hotels.com has surveyed prices actually paid for overnight stays in hotels in the world's major countries and cities.

Israel is ranked in seventh place worldwide in terms of the most expensive prices for staying in hotels according to the hotel reservations site hotels.com, in its global index of hotel prices over the past six months. The site has surveyed prices actually paid for overnight stays in hotels in the world's major countries and cities.

The survey found that the average price for an overnight stay in an Israeli hotel over the past six months was $227, 3% up from the corresponding period of 2012.

The survey found that Monte Carlo was the world's most expensive location for hotels at $302 per night followed by Muskat ($299) is second place and Rio de Janeiro ($287) in third place. The average price of an overnight stay in a hotel in the US was $189.

The average price for an overnight stay in Jerusalem was a more modest $205 compared with $180 in London, Milan, Munich and Amsterdam. In Madrid and Las Vegas the average price is just $130.
