Supreme Court President Asher Grunis issued an injunction at MK Eitan Cabel's request.
President of the Supreme Court Asher Grunis today accepted another appeal by MK Eitan Cabel (Labor) and issued a temporary injunction against the elections for a new chairman of the Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel). Histadrut Trade Union Division chairman Avi Nissenkorn is set to succeed Histadrut chairman Ofer Eini in this election.
Cabel requested for another hearing before a panel of five judges, after the panel of three Supreme Court judges ruled last week that the Histadrut Legislative Assembly can elect the chairman, rather than a general election of all of the union's members. Grunis gave the Histadrut until March 26 to file a response - the day before the Histadrut Legislative Assembly is due to hold the election.
