Jason Furman is the Chairman of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers and a member of the Cabinet. Prior to this role, he served as the Principal Deputy Director of the National Economic Council. Furman has also previously served as Economic Policy Director for Obama for America, Director of the Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution, and Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy during the Clinton Administration.

He has conducted research in a wide range of areas, including fiscal policy, tax policy, health economics, Social Security, and monetary policy.

Prof. Admati has written extensively on information dissemination in financial markets, trading mechanisms, portfolio management, financial contracting, and, most recently, on corporate governance and banking.

In recent years, Admati has been active in the policy debate on financial regulation. She is the author, with Martin Hellwig, of the book The Bankers’ New Clothes: What’s Wrong with Banking and What to Do about It (Princeton University Press, March 2013, see bankersnewclothes.com) as well as research and policy papers and short commentaries. In April 2014 Admati was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.

Admati is a fellow of the Econometric Society, the recipient of multiple fellowships and research grants, and a past board member of the American Finance Association. She has served on a number of editorial boards and is currently a member of the FDIC Systemic Resolution Advisory Committee.

Sir Suma has extensive experience in international development economics and policy-making, as well as in designing and implementing wider public service reform.

Most recently he held the position of Permanent Secretary at the British Ministry of Justice and was its most senior civil servant. Prior to this, from 2002, he headed the UK’s Department for International Development -- formerly the Overseas Development Administration (ODA) -- where he worked closely with economies undergoing substantial reform in eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union and the Middle East and North Africa. Sir Suma is notable for playing a key role developing the UK's successful Know-How Fund for Central and Eastern Europe and worked with the European Commission in improving its programmes in the Middle East and North Africa.

Sir Suma also worked in the late 1990s in the UK Treasury, where he was responsible for UK public expenditure, and in the early 2000s in the Cabinet Office, where he led on cross-departmental strategic issues and subsequently the management of the Cabinet agenda.

Sir Suma holds honorary doctorates from the Universities of Sussex and East Anglia, and Bucharest’s University of Economic studies.

Dean Collins is an international economist, whose research interests' center on determinants of economic growth in developed and developing economies, and issues raised by increasing cross-national economic integration. Her work has been published in numerous professional journals. She edited or co-edited 16 books, including the Brookings Trade Forum (1999-2007).

Dean Collins is currently a nonresident senior fellow in the Economic Studies program at Brookings, president of the Association for Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA), a member of the Board of Directors of the Detroit Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research.

She previously held positions as a professor of economics at Georgetown University and associate professor of economics at Harvard University. She served as a senior staff economist on the President’s Council of Economic Advisers during 1989-90.

Barry Eichengreen is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (Cambridge, Massachusetts) and Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (London, England). In 1997-98 he was Senior Policy Advisor at the International Monetary Fund.

Professor Eichengreen is the convener of the Bellagio Group of academics and economic officials and chair of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Peterson Institute of International Economics. He has held Guggenheim and Fulbright Fellowships and has been a fellow of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (Palo Alto) and the Institute for Advanced Study (Berlin). He is a regular monthly columnist for Project Syndicate.

His most recent books are From Miracle to Maturity: The Growth of the Korean Economy with Dwight H. Daniel Alpert is an American investment banker, think tank fellow and author.

He is best known for his writing on the credit bubble and the ensuing financial crisis of the 2000s, and his many articles and papers on the U.S. housing market, banking, regulatory matters and global macroeconomics. Alpert has been widely quoted and published in print outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Reuters, the Associated Press, Bloomberg, Forbes, and Fortune. Daniel Alpert is founding Managing Partner of the New York-based investment bank Westwood Capital, LLC and its affiliates and a fellow of the New York-based Century Foundation, one of the nation’s oldest think tanks.

Keisuke Sadamori was appointed Director of the Energy Markets and Security Directorate on 3 September 2012.

Prior to joining the IEA, Mr. Sadamori, a Japanese national, held many senior positions at the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and most recently was Deputy Director-General at the Minister’s Secretariat.

Mr. Sadamori served as the executive assistant to Prime Minister Kan in 2011, when the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami hit Japan, causing the Fukushima Nuclear Plant Accident. Before this, he worked on international energy affairs and was the representative of the Government of Japan in such fora as the IEA Governing Board in 2008 and 2009. Paul Taylor is a senior fellow at the Pew Research Center, a non-partisan "fact tank" that provides information on the issues, attitudes and trends shaping America and the world. From 2004 to 2014, he had served as the center’s executive vice president and oversaw all of its demographic, social and generational research.

He is the author of The Next America: Boomers, Millennials and the Looming Generational Showdown, (PublicAffairs,2014), a book about demographic change; See How They Run (Knopf, 1990), a book about presidential campaigns, and co-author of The Old News Versus the New News (Twentieth Century Fund, 1992) a book about political journalism.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Rosenthal oversaw International Business Development, Strategic Alliances and Corporate Development activities for a leading information and communications technology company based in California. In government, Mr. Rosenthal served on the White House senior staff from 1995 to 2000 with responsibility for the Public Affairs activities of the President of the United States. Mr. Rosenthal represented the United States in more than 50 foreign countries as head of delegation and lead negotiator with senior foreign government officials, and was one of the youngest individuals ever commissioned as an Assistant to the President.

Prior to his service in the Executive Office of the President, Mr. Rosenthal held positions in the International Trade Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce and in the Bureau for Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union at the U.S. Agency for International Development.

Paul Blustein is an economic journalist and author. A resident of Kamakura, Japan, where he moved in 2010, he is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation and Non-Resident Fellow in the Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Blustein attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, receiving an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. He spent much of his career as a reporter for the Washington Post, including five years as a correspondent in Tokyo, and before that he worked at the Wall Street Journal and Forbes Magazine. Among the prizes he has won for his work is the Gerald Loeb Award, which recognizes distinguished business and economic journalism.

In his books Blustein has specialized in writing behind-the-scenes narratives about international economic institutions such as the IMF and the WTO. His first book, The Chastening, chronicled the financial crises that struck Asia and other emerging markets in the late 1990s; subsequent books have focused on other crises and the travails of global trade negotiations. David J. Blumer, Senior Managing Director, is head of Europe, Middle East and Africa for BlackRock and is a member of both the Global Executive Committee and the Global Operating Committee.

Prior to joining BlackRock in 2013, Mr. Blumer was Chief Investment Officer and a member of the Executive Committee at Swiss Reinsurance Co. Ltd. Additionally, he assumed the role of Chairman of Swiss Re's Admin Re Division, and was a member of the board at Brevan Howard. Preceding his employment with Swiss Re, Mr. Blumer was Chief Executive Officer of Credit Suisse's Asset Management and a member of the Executive Board.

During his 15-year career at Credit Suisse, Mr. Blumer held various positions in private banking and asset management in Zurich, London and New York. In 2004, Credit Suisse appointed Mr. Blumer Head of Trading and Sales, and two years later appointed him Head of Asset Management. David Woo is the head of Global Rates and Currencies Research at BofA Merrill Lynch. Based in New York, David heads a team of 25 analysts between New York, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Sydney who are responsible for the bank's forecasts for interest rates and exchange rates. David also serves as a member of the Research Executive Management Committee.

David is widely regarded as one of the leading macro investment strategists on Wall Street. He is frequently quoted in major financial press and appears regularly on Bloomberg TV and CNBC. In 2013 David was voted by the Business Insider as one of the twelve smartest people on Wall Street. 

David joins BofA Merrill Lynch from Barclays Capital, where he served as head of Global Foreign Exchange Strategy (2004-2010). Before joining Barclays, he spent four years at Citigroup as head of Local Markets Strategy for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (2000-2004). He began his career as an economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C (1996-2000). 

David has a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University and a BA in mathematics from Tufts University.

Eric Berglöf is a widely published and internationally respected specialist in the field of transition economics, as well as financial contracting, corporate governance, financial development and EU reform. As expert on policy-related issues in transition economies, he has regularly provided advice to national governments and international institutions including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and OECD.

Prior to joining the EBRD in 2006, Erik Berglöf held the position of Director of the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) and Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics. He was previously Assistant Professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and has held visiting positions at Harvard, Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was the founder and President of the Centre for Economic and Financial Research (CEFIR) in Moscow.

Erik Berglöf was also Programme Director at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London. Currently, he is Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., Board Member and Research Fellow of the European Corporate Governance Institute, Board Member of the New Economic School in Moscow, Board Member of the Institute for New Economic Thinking in New York, and Trustee of the Bianca Jagger Human Rights Foundation. Chicago-based Environmental Financial Products (EFP), specializes in inventing, designing, and developing new financial markets. Glenn Yago is a senior fellow and founder of the Institute's Financial Innovation Lab. He is a leading authority on financial innovations, capital markets, emerging markets and environmental finance.

Yago's work focuses on the innovative use of financial instruments to solve long-standing economic development and social and environmental challenges. His research and projects have contributed to policy innovations fostering the democratization of capital to traditionally underserved markets and entrepreneurs in the United States and around the world.

Yago runs the Milken Innovation Center at the Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies, where he oversees a range of activities devoted to accelerating Israel's economic growth, bridging social and economic gaps, and securing Israel's global competitiveness through financial technology transfer that increases the impact of government policy, philanthropy, and private-sector investment. Yago directs the Milken Institute Fellows Program, which places graduates in internships related to financial reform and economic development projects.

In Israel, he served as Adviser on Social Wellfare to the Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Professor Kouts has also lectured at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University and was Visiting Professor in several European and American universities.

He is member of many academic and professional organizations. He was invited as media expert by the French Senate and National Assembly. His publications include books and scholarly articles on Jewish Press and Communications History, Foreign Reporting, Propaganda and National Identity studies. Nick Butler is Visiting Professor and Chair of the Kings Policy Institute at Kings College London. He was formerly Group Vice President for Strategy and Policy Development at BP, and senior policy adviser to the Prime Minister. Professor Butler is also an advisor to the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge and a regular contribitor to the Financial Times.
